David’s Story

David has many years experience, having taught physical education in secondary and middle schools as well as carrying out much support work in the Primary phase. He has numerous Sports Coaching Awards and has coached from child to adult level.

In recent years he has been with the leading sports training company SAQ® International as Education and Training Director. He was the driving force in the successful implementation of Fundamental Movement programmes into thousands of schools nationwide, as a supporting tool to the provision of high quality Physical Education and School Sport.

His developmental and research work has crossed the age and ability range from Early Years and Special Needs to Gifted and Talented. He is the co-author of two very popular books.

He has enjoyed professional recognition and endorsements for his achievements from academics, physical education advisers, inspectors, specialist professionals, coaching bodies and most importantly teachers, children and performers at all levels.

He has worked with hundreds of Parents, Teaching Assistants. Teachers, Sports Coaches and performers at elite level across the country and presented at courses and conferences across Great Britain and internationally in twelve different countries.

His passion to bring about improvement in movement competence regardless of age, ability and aspiration has resulted in an affinity with those of more modest potential as well as the aspiring athlete and the adult wishing to prolong an active life. A main focus now is the impact improved movement patterns can have on cognitive, emotional and behavioral development, especially in pre-school and Primary age children. As a result David is in demand as a Physical Therapist as well as a PE consultant.

David has recently added to his years of experience by training;

  • as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator for further work in schools
  • as a Rhythmic Movement Trainer (Level 2) for work with all age groups in the area of retained reflexes.
  • in Functional Movement Screening to be able to assist in particular, sports performers of all ages as well as anyone wishing to ensure their exercise regime is maximized.
  • in the Bal-A-Vis-X Intervention Programme

He is also experienced at working with National Organisations e.g. Youth Sport Trust, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Prison Service and National Accreditation agencies e.g. NCFE and Active IQ to upgrade and quality assure educational courses.
